How Gun Violence Affects Me And My Community

Gun violence affects everyone in my neighborhood because of so many people that have guns. My family feels that the gun rate in our community is higher than it should be. They feel on high alert and unsafe every time we step out of our home. we have to think that people in our surroundings can snap at any moment and we have to be hazardous about everybody. With guns in the streets, nobody is safe, including the people who carry guns themselves.

I personally care about gun violence because my brothers and I listen to gang affiliated music, but I’m not in a gang myself. My brother is only 14 and likes to throw up gang signs like its a good thing to do. Even though he has never picked up a gun, a gang can change your life. My little brother us only 2 and he still listens to gang music. I don’t want none of my brothers to grow up and be a gangster or still in the hood. I want them to be successful and a gang will slow that success down. That will eventually think that gangs and guns is cool and its not.

Toxic Gun Culture in the United States

Gun violence is the next disease in our culture and I would like it to stop before more young lives are destroyed. For the past two years the gun violence in inner cities such as Chicago was very high and no one seems to have an answer for it.

It was stated by ABCnews.go.com that “A long and violent year in Chicago ended with a record number of shootings and the most homicides in two decades, police say. The Windy City saw 3,550 shooting incidents and 762 murders last year, a grim total that works out to an average of more than two murders and nearly 10 shootings every single day.”

This is gun violence I want to find the way to stop and to find that we need to start working together to form a unity to help stop gun violence like S.O.S, CSGV, and etc. This groups are taking action to stop gun violence and we should too.

Toxic Gun Culture

I feel that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because teens are more likely to do more of what they are surrounded by especially the culture that we now live in, which is the feeling of respect and protection but by the use of guns. According to “live science” “Many boys become depressed as a result of bullying because they don’t fit in but boys are not always taught ways dealing with their very deep emotions, so tragically, sometimes violence is directed at innocent people.” This shows that media & culture we now live in is very immature, for example bullying and because of bullying people’s children then feel the only way to gain respect is by taking the anger of what they been going through with a gun, destroying an innocent child’s life. Also, in the same artice, ” beyond personal issues many experts believe society, or the culture, plays a role. As a psychologist explains, “these kids often feel very powerless, the only way they are somebody & that they are a man is to get a gun and kill people.” This shows that media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because culture, the media, & a lot of pressure on boys puts a reinforcement that manhood is about power and social status, which is also in the way of how gun violence is celebrated. Lastly, the reporter of, Newsela, “critics argue that playing violent video games is responsible for the increasing rates of bullying in recent years. Some researchers are concerned that violent video games teach children that violence is an acceptable approach to solving and achieving goals.” This shows that the media and culture does influence gun violence in the United States because violent video games seems to give boys the power of dangerous behavior of having lack of emotions of shooting an innocence of a child or adult.

celeberties stop gun violence

Celebrities solve the problem of gun violence because they are on the radio and kids listen to their music kids look up to them

Montana of 300 is a drill rapper that is a self proclaimed rap god. This is one of his lines: “Banana clips for all you monkey curious just like George.” this line is talking about guns and how if anybody likes to mind other people’s business them.If kids they listen to them they might wanna follow.

But Montana of 300 changed over the years. Another line from one of his songs talking about his life:

“yo daddy used to be the plug that’s just how it was.now hustlin with dis rap *** feel so hard it need a rug i stop selling  drugs but  still shinin like the sun same**** bump they gums see me then they bite they tongue yodaddy used to be the plug read more than most and soaked up knowledge like a sponge like Daff and Rudy Huxtable as pound of **** but before that had sandwich filled up dubs priorities I had to handle like a mug was gittin five  din give **** bout havin fun ratha spen time with ma son wa before the buzz way before the fans I was pullin out that scale I was addin up them gram I was duckin dodgin 12 on my way ta get them bands n I wan taking no L kept the pistol in my pants bin arrested posted bell got the *** up out that can got lawyer paid um well had to get up out that jaaaammmmm” these lyrics mean that he had it tough growing up and he made it the hard way out and he didn’t care about friends more than his sons. but he had to do what he had to do because he was the source he was the plug this helps the gun violence by telling people to stick with family instead of gangbanging with friends. On his Instagram, he wrote: “And to the all the gang bangers….it’s a big cycle. A big everlasting chain. Imagine playing a basketball game n both teams are scoring points (taking lives) but the game clock doesn’t end (generations after generations). At some point you have to realize that scoring 2 points or 30 points may feel good for the moment but ask yourself, “What are you trying to shoot shots for if the game can’t come to an end and there will never be a final winner???” It’s a big waste of time, energy, freedom and life. Generations after generations after generations after generations of blood being spilled and countless mothers crying, yet still no team (gang) has won the game. Go invest your energy into something positive and something that’s honorable as a man, or better yet as a father or a son. Make your blood proud. Give your ppl hope with proof of your achievements.” This shows that people can stop gun violence if they come together.

How Gun Violence Affects Me and my community

nothing

..

I haven’t experienced Gun Violence in real life, but i personally care about this issues because more than 30.000 Americans die from gun violence each year and this is really sad topic because when this things happens the only responds is that according to 2nd amendment “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”thats really sad and really hateful because people that support gun sells they don’t know if they are the next one or one of your family members are, so its is a very important issue to address with the community since a lot of people die from from it, i feel like with more gun control laws we can stop this shooters from taking away someones life
Like a Child or adult, and Also Every day, 48 children and teens are shot in murders, assaults, suicides & suicide attempts, unintentional shootings, and police intervention.based on bradycampaign and such sad thing to know because this kids who die could of have been someone who changes the way humans live today in the earth. This is what i personally think about the issue of gun violence in my community and how it affects me today.
